On the 20th, LG Uplus announced that it will showcase 'iXi-GEN', its own developed sLLM (small language model) in collaboration with global cloud service provider Amazon Web Services (AWS), making it the first telecommunications company in Korea to do so. As a result, corporations and developers around the world can easily develop new AI services based on iXi-GEN through AWS's 'Amazon Bedrock Marketplace'.
AWS's Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed service that provides advanced features such as enterprise-grade security controls while allowing for easy implementation of AI. With over 1,000 AI models available worldwide, developers can select the appropriate AI model from various foundation models and LLMs (large language models) provided by Amazon Bedrock to build AI solutions.
iXi-GEN developed by LG Uplus is an sLLM based on the LLM named EXAONE developed by LG AI researchers, trained on specific domain data. Registered on Bedrock, iXi-GEN is optimized as a finance-specific model trained on financial data. It can perform natural language processing (NLP) functions such as responding to various finance-related questions or summarizing content.
Recognizing the trend of active AI adoption in the financial sector, LG Uplus developed a specialized AI model trained on financial data. As a result of testing the performance of the finance-specialized iXi-GEN, it showed approximately 31% improved performance over EXAONE in the financial sector. iXi-GEN is noted for providing reliable responses based on secure data learning.
Jeon Byeong-gi, head of the AX technology group at LG Uplus, said, 'Through this collaboration with AWS, we are now able to introduce the competitive edge of iXi-GEN, which boasts performance and stability, to AI developers around the world.' He added, 'We will continue to secure our AI competitiveness through ongoing technology development and collaboration with global players, positioning ourselves as a leading AI company.'
