LG Electronics announced on the 16th that it has won a total of 16 awards at the '28th Energy Winner Awards,' hosted by the Consumer Citizens' Movement and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment, including three grand prizes.
LG Electronics set a record for the most awards in the industry for nine consecutive years. The company won the grand prize and government awards (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, Minister of Environment Award) in two categories: 'Energy Winner' for outstanding energy-efficient technologies or products, and 'Carbon Neutral Winner' for low-carbon products or activities aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
The built-in style refrigerator 'LG DIO AI Object Collection Fit & Max' received both the grand prize in the 'Energy Winner' category and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, taking home the highest honor. This product enhances energy efficiency by using AI to learn customer lifestyle patterns. During peak hours in the morning when customers frequently open and close the refrigerator door, it operates in concentrated cooling mode to reduce temperature rise inside the refrigerator, while at night, when not in frequent use, it automatically switches to energy-saving mode.
A groundbreaking initiative in the automotive business, which applied advanced techniques such as data analysis and virtual verification to significantly reduce carbon emissions, also won the grand prize in the carbon neutrality sector and the Minister of Environment Award, marking another highest honor. LG Electronics reduced the packaging material usage of automotive components by an average of 10%, based on logistics data analysis and virtual verification results. This also led to a reduction of 5,840 tons (tCO₂eq, the amount of greenhouse gas converted to carbon dioxide emissions) in carbon emissions compared to last year.
Additionally, the 'LG Tromm AI Object Collection WashTower,' equipped with an AI DD motor, achieved the largest domestic washing and drying capacity of 25 kilograms (㎏) and an energy consumption efficiency rating of 1st class, earning it a grand prize.
Moreover, the 'LG Whisen Portable Air Conditioner,' which improved cooling efficiency by 8.9% and reduced monthly electricity costs by 8.8% compared to previous models through high-efficiency components, was awarded the Energy Efficiency Award. The 'LG Whisen Commercial Stand Air Conditioner,' which improved cooling efficiency by 23% and heating efficiency by 37% compared to the existing 14.5㎾ class 4 model, along with the 'High-Temperature Large Capacity Heat Pump for District Energy' using alternative refrigerant (R1234ze(E)), received the Energy Saving Award. The 'LG CordZero A9 AI' vacuum cleaner, which reduced battery consumption by 20% compared to the existing model, received the Energy Technology Award, and the 'LG Gram Pro' notebook, which reduced power usage in raw materials and manufacturing processes, won the CO₂ Reduction Award.
Jeong Yeon-chae, Vice President of the Customer Value Innovation Division at LG Electronics, said, "We will strive to enhance customer value by providing differentiated energy-efficient technology, ensuring that customers can contribute to the environment simply by experiencing LG Electronics products."
