This year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 Avantgarde A/T ranked first in the overall popularity ranking of car models in the first half.
Chabot Mobility disclosed this on the 14th while announcing the ranking of popular new car models and market trends based on an analysis of customer data from the 'Chabot' driver integration platform regarding 'customers using the vehicle purchase service.' This data is based on requests for quotes that reflect actual purchase intentions, not just registration numbers.
In the overall popularity ranking of car models, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 Avantgarde A/T recorded a 13.2% market share, ranking first. It was followed by the Genesis New GV70 gasoline turbo 2.5 2WD (9.6%) in second place, the BMW 5 Series 520i M Sport (9.3%) in third place, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 Avantgarde Limited in fourth place, and the Kia The New Seltos 1.6 Signature 2WD (5.7%) in fifth place.
Chabot Mobility noted that 'the domestic new car market in the first half has shown a 'dual consumption trend,' with robust demand for premium brand sedans continuing, while demand for environmentally friendly vehicles centered on electric sports utility vehicles (SUVs) is rising.'
Looking at the monthly trends in quote requests, there was a significant increase in overall transactions in February, followed by an average decrease of over 30% in March and April compared to the previous month. This is interpreted as a reflection of concentrated demand in February due to year-end bonus payments, tax benefits, and corporate financial expenditure. However, in May, there was a strong rebound with a 52.7% increase compared to the previous month, and this recovery trend continued through June. This upward trend is analyzed to be a result of various factors, including the new car effects such as EV3 and EX30, proactive demand ahead of changes in electric vehicle subsidies, and vehicle replacement demand during family month and vacation season.
In the monthly trends of imported cars, the BMW 3 Series showed strength in January, but from February, the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class engaged in a fierce competition for first place. In particular, in February, the BMW 5 Series surged, leading the market, while from March onward, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class maintained a stable lead.
In the domestic automotive sector, a consumption structure where premium SUVs and environmentally friendly models coexist has clearly emerged.
The domestic car that received the most quote requests in the first half was the 'Genesis GV70 2.5 gasoline 2WD' model, which ranked first with a 13.4% market share among all domestic cars. It was followed by the Kia Sorento Hybrid 2WD Noblesse (8.4%) in second place, the Kia The New Seltos gasoline turbo (7.8%) in third place, the Genesis New G80 gasoline turbo (6.7%) in fourth place, and the Hyundai The All-New Grandeur Hybrid gasoline turbo (5.6%) in fifth.
A representative of Chabot Mobility said, 'The most noteworthy aspect of the new car market in the first half is the 'full-scale popularization of environmentally friendly vehicles' and 'experience-based consumption through leasing and renting.' In particular, the fact that hybrids and electric vehicles accounted for 50% of the top 10 in the domestic sector shows that environmentally friendly cars are no longer a niche market but are being included in the mainstream market, and the continuous growth of the leasing and rental market indicates a shift in consumer purchasing patterns from ownership to usage.'
