KT is embarking on building the next-generation 'defense love for the country card' issuance platform.
On 14th, KT announced that it has signed a contract with the Military Personnel Mutual Aid Association C&C for the project to establish the 'defense love for the country card issuance and operation system.' The purpose of this project is to build a defense digital infrastructure to support the safe and efficient operation of the love for the country card. KT plans to establish a platform that enhances user convenience and security by the end of the year, thereby improving the efficiency of military administration.
KT will build ▲a self-registration system based on biometric authentication ▲a smart issuance management platform ▲a work support system with enhanced security measures ▲an integrated system that increases user accessibility and convenience. Through this, the aim is to streamline all processes related to the application, issuance, and history management of the love for the country card and accelerate the digital transformation of the Military Manpower Administration.
KT noted that the system to be built this time will provide not only facial and fingerprint-based biometric authentication within the Military Manpower Administration but also real-time identity verification and conscription evasion prevention features using artificial intelligence (AI), adding that flexibility in cloud-based infrastructure expansion is also an advantage. The aim is to develop a digitally-based 'next-generation love for the country card issuance platform' that provides practical convenience to both those obligated to serve and administrative agencies by linking the system with financial institutions and the Military Manpower Administration.
KT was selected as the final contractor based on its technical capabilities, considering architectures designed for a future-oriented IT infrastructure environment, simplification measures for military administration applying the latest technologies, and user-centered portal design based on user experience (UX).
KT has built a next-generation intelligent defense integrated 'Software Defined Data Center' (SDDC). It has also carried out projects to construct digital infrastructure in the defense sector, such as the 'Defense Broadband Integrated Network' (M-BcN) and the 'Smart Unit Construction.'
Yoo Yong-kyu, head of the Public Projects Division at KT (executive director), said, 'This project is a major turning point that leads to innovation across the entire military administration, beyond merely building a system.' He added, 'KT will continue to expand services that provide practical convenience that the country and the people can feel, as a trusted digital innovation partner in the public sector.'
