The best experience is unfolding for you.
Roh Tae-Moon, acting head of the DX Division at Samsung Electronics, opened the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2025' event on the 9th (local time) by stating that, "The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 represent the pinnacle of our innovation," and emphasized that "they contain more value than just a new foldable or flip device." He added, "We will set a new standard for foldable products and elevate bar-type mobile phones to a new dimension with the most powerful and innovative hardware."
Samsung Electronics showcased the new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, at the event. They also unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fan Edition (FE), the first affordable foldable model.
Roh Tae-Moon took the stage at Galaxy Unpacked, stating that "Samsung has been leading people-centered innovation for over 50 years," and began his presentation with the remark that "we have been creating technology that helps you every day." He highlighted the Super AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display, 5G consolidation, and camera performance as Samsung Electronics continues to respond to ever-changing customer needs.
Samsung Electronics applied a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with a width of approximately 64.9 mm on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display that is visible when opened. Roh noted that this display incorporates Samsung's "50 years of development" history.
Roh emphasized, "The most important question is, 'What can you do with that technology?'" noting that mobile devices now contain artificial intelligence (AI). He stated, "Last year, Samsung opened a new mobile era with the first AI smartphone" and added, "Now, AI is rapidly evolving from text-based prompts to multimodal formats. We are accelerating the introduction of mobile AI for everyone at the forefront of this evolution."
Samsung Electronics claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a "truly multimodal AI experience." Multimodal AI refers to technology that simultaneously understands and processes various types of information, including text, images, voice, and video. Features like "Gemini Live," which allows for immediate voice responses rather than text-based searches through screen or camera sharing, and "AI Result View," which allows users to see results generated through AI, fall into this category. Roh introduced, "Galaxy AI acts on your words, and the latest camera understands and reacts after seeing you."
Roh stated that Samsung Electronics believes it is crucial for AI to be meaningful and approachable for everyone. He added, "We will further enhance Galaxy AI as an AI companion that communicates, creates, and thrives like a person."
Roh also highlighted the importance of security, equating it with AI performance. He said, "Innovation has no meaning without trust, so Galaxy AI prioritizes personal information protection to keep data safe." He added, "When AI combines with powerful mobile technology, a completely new world of opportunities opens up."
He concluded by stating, "Samsung Electronics will offer a variety of wearable devices that can be worn beyond just the wrist," and added that "your experience will transform to be more powerful, dynamic, and intuitive." He emphasized, "The greatest innovations occur when hardware, software, and services challenge themselves for growth," noting that "we will gladly embrace this challenge."
