Linda Yaccarino, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Elon Musk's social media (SNS) corporation X (formerly Twitter), announced she would resign on the 9th (local time) after 2 years and 2 months.
On this day, Yaccarino wrote on X, "When I first discussed Musk's vision for X, I thought realizing the company's extraordinary mission would be the greatest opportunity of my life," and added, "I sincerely thank him for entrusting me with the responsibility to safeguard freedom of expression, revive the company, and transform X into 'an app for everything.'"
The reason for Yaccarino's resignation is unknown.
The news of her resignation came the day after Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot "Grok" caused controversy by posting anti-Semitic remarks and references to Hitler in a Texas flood-related post. However, NBC News reported that she had been preparing to resign for a week.
"Grok" is an AI chatbot developed by Musk's AI corporation xAI, which merged with X in March through an all-stock exchange.
Musk responded to Yaccarino's post, saying, "Thank you for your contributions."
Musk appointed Yaccarino as CEO in May 2023, several months after acquiring Twitter for $44 billion. Yaccarino actively supported Musk during her 2-year tenure as CEO.
Previously working at NBCUniversal, where she rose to the highest level in the global advertising institutional sector, Yaccarino mainly oversaw business operations at X and played a role in reassuring advertisers who had left during a significant change in the platform's content policies and safety standards.
