HANCOM is making a full-scale entry into the open source (software with publicly available source code) market in partnership with global open source corporations Duallab.
On the 9th, HANCOM announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the joint development and business cooperation of the ‘Open PDF Data Loader’ with Duallab. This agreement will accelerate HANCOM’s transition into an artificial intelligence (AI) technology corporation.
Recently, the number of AI models registered on the AI hosting platform ‘Hugging Face’ surpassed 1 million, demonstrating the rapid growth of the open source-based AI ecosystem. HANCOM is also set to collaborate with developers worldwide based on open source. HANCOM plans to contribute to the global open source ecosystem by making its PDF data extraction technology open source and strengthening its technological competitiveness.
The open PDF data loader that both companies are jointly developing is a software development kit (SDK) that supports fast and precise data extraction from PDF documents. Its flexible structure allows for easy integration with various AI models. HANCOM aims to actively expand its collaboration with developers, communities, and corporate users around the world through the open source ecosystem.
Duallab is a full member of the ‘PDF Association,’ which governs PDF technology standards. It has been leading the development of open source technology for ‘VeraPDF,’ a widely recognized PDF/A validation tool.
CEO Kim Yeon-soo of HANCOM said, ‘This collaboration with Duallab is a significant turning point for HANCOM to make a full-scale entry into the global market by combining its accumulated document technology with the latest AI and open source trends.’ She noted, ‘We will build a technological ecosystem that grows together with developers around the world based on the values of openness and collaboration, laying the foundation for HANCOM to leap forward as a global AI service corporation.’
