Kakao Entertainment announced on the 9th that its music platform Melon will host the 'Melon Music Awards 2025' at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on December 20.
The Melon Music Awards, which highlights the achievements of artists over the past year through objective data from the leading music platform Melon, user votes, and expert evaluations, is establishing itself as the largest music awards and festival in K-pop. First held online in 2005, it expanded to offline events in 2009, solidifying its status as an event eagerly awaited by both fans and artists.
For this year's Melon Music Awards 2025, the evaluation criteria for the main award 'Top 10' have been changed from 80% music and 20% votes to 60% music, 20% votes, and 20% evaluations. As the ways music is consumed on Melon have diversified, this adjustment aims to comprehensively analyze various factors such as popularity, influence, and completeness to spotlight the artists who truly shone this year.
Additionally, to express gratitude to long-time customers of Melon, the ticket reservation privilege, previously available to all members, will now be limited to paid members. This change is intended to protect members' rights by preventing reservations through illegal channels.
In anticipation of the Melon Music Awards 2025, Melon is preparing various pre-events that will allow music fans to enjoy diverse experiences. Through these events, including high-demand rewards such as MMA tickets, expectations for the main event will be heightened. Voting for the Top 10 and institutional sector categories will also take place, with related announcements and events to be sequentially held on Melon's official page for the Melon Music Awards 2025.
