On the 8th, content corporation Ridi announced the launch of its short drama platform "Kanta" in Japan.
The newly launched "Kanta" is a global short drama service that delivers the sensibility and fun of Korean drama content in a compact format. As the short-form content market is rapidly emerging, "Kanta" plans to present immersive high-quality video services targeting the sensibility of Japanese users who are familiar with K-content.
"Kanta" will sequentially release new K-drama series every month. Notably, in August, it will showcase "Electronic Brain Manager Jung" starring comedian and actor Jung Jun-ha and ATEEZ's Yunho. This work is expected to spark customer interest with its delightful imagination and fast-paced development.
Ridi is rapidly expanding its presence in the Japanese market, having been selected as the first Korean corporation for the "TSE Asia Startup Hub" held by the Tokyo Stock Exchange last year. This "Kanta" service represents a part of Ridi's global strategy to expand video content by consolidating the intellectual property (IP) and operational know-how it has accumulated, and it is expected to further enhance its competitiveness in the Japanese market.
Ridi CEO Baek Gi-sik said, "Ridi is constantly evolving into content formats that suit the times, from web novels and webtoons to short dramas," adding, "We plan to lead the influence of K-content in the short drama sector, starting with this 'Kanta' service."
