On the 3rd, according to the webtoon industry, major platforms such as Naver Series, Kakao Page, and Ridibooks halted the sales service for 'The elementary school student I love.'
When searching for the work on the platform, a notification appears stating, 'Product page has been suspended from sale,' and works and episodes that are not currently on sale are unavailable.
This webtoon centers on the story of an elementary school female teacher who comes to realize that a character with whom she established a romantic relationship in a game is actually her student.
The work received criticism for romanticizing pedophilia and grooming crimes even during its serialization from 2015 to 2020. Recently, controversy resurfaced when the production company C&C Revolution and the drama production company Metanewline signed a contract for video adaptation rights.
The Korea Federation of Teachers' Associations (KFTA) noted, 'It is a clear glorification of grooming crimes when a teacher shares personal feelings with a minor student and develops it into a romantic relationship, which can never be dismissed as romance or fantasy.'
