Kakao Foundation announced on the 30th that it will hold the '1st Grow Up Creation Camp' for 30 aspiring creators of webtoons and web novels from November 3rd to 7th at Yangpyeong Bloom Vista.
This camp, designed as a practical program, aims to enhance creative capabilities by providing feedback on works and discussing production directions through close interaction with popular authors in the field. Following the regular lecture series 'Grow Up Talk & Talk' for aspiring creators, Kakao Foundation plans to establish a system that can support every step of the creator's growth journey from writing a piece to debut, and will continue to do so.
The camp will feature 6 mentors who can vividly convey industry trends and serialization experiences. Participating mentors include Lee Do-kyung from 'Yeonrokheun', Bungdeng from 'Namgungsega Maknaegongja', Hwaram from 'Mudanggihyeob' for webtoons, and Dalseul from 'Charming the Villain's Dad', Writer 8 from 'My Dad is the Best in the World', and Jaya from 'Ebony' for web novels. All are popular authors who spearheaded success on Kakao Page. They will collaborate throughout the camp and share creative know-how and market insights while providing close feedback on participants' works.
During the camp, the completed works refined through personal creation and feedback will be evaluated, and a total of 4 teams will be selected for the Grand Prize, Excellent Award, Merit Award, and Encouragement Award, receiving creative grants and one-on-one mentoring opportunities with Kakao Page webtoon and web novel producers. The winning team of the Grand Prize will receive additional one-on-one feedback from the authors who participated in the camp. This camp is expected to help aspiring creators enhance their creative skills and pave the way for future opportunities in distribution, publishing, and serialization.
Application submissions for participation will be accepted until July 27th. Final participants will be selected through interviews, and the submitted documents will consist of an application form, self-introduction, draft work, logline, and synopsis. For webtoons, a complete synopsis and content for 3 chapters are required, while for web novels, a synopsis and a draft of more than 5 chapters must be submitted. The participation fee is completely free.
