LG Uplus announced on the 29th that it has been selected as the founding chair of QuINSA (Quantum INdustrial Standard Association), a private coalition promoting global standardization of quantum technology. The chair is held by Jeong-gae Yu, the executive director of LG Uplus's wired business.
QuINSA is a global private consortium supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and participated in by organizations such as the Korea Information & Communication Technology Association (TTA) and the Future Quantum Convergence Center (QCI), aimed at standardizing technologies across the industry, including quantum communication, sensors, and computing. It has been operating since 2023.
Recently, as the government announced plans to transition the security system to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) based by 2035, LG Uplus was recommended as the chair for having been the first to implement PQC in a commercial environment.
The first international general meeting was held on the 25th at the Yangjae LTOWER, attended by over 100 participants from domestic and international telecommunications and quantum technology corporations and institutions to discuss technology seminars and standardization strategies.
Executive Director Yu noted, "The era of private-led international standardization of quantum technology is opening up," adding, "As the chair of QuINSA, LG Uplus will continue to expand the global ecosystem and realize differentiated customer value based on proven technological capabilities and commercialization experience through public-private collaboration."
