On the 26th, Kakao announced that it will hold an in-house hackathon called '2025 10K' at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin.
A hackathon is a blend of 'hacking' and 'marathon.' It is a development competition where developers and service planners participate individually or as a team to solve specific topics and implement their ideas into prototypes.
Since 2013, Kakao has been conducting an in-house hackathon annually under the name '24K,' which means '24 hours for crew.'
This year's hackathon introduces 'Vibe Coding,' an AI-based development method for the first time since its inception. Vibe Coding is a new programming method where AI performs coding tasks based on natural language commands. The duration has been reduced from the previous 24 hours to 10 hours for the '10K' event.
The 10K focuses on quickly implementing ideas into minimum viable products (MVP) by actively utilizing AI.
AI will participate not only in the development process but also in the evaluation process. After the first development sprint, the AI model will assess the completeness of the MVP, and these scores will be reflected in the final evaluation.
With the introduction of Vibe Coding, this year, crew members from various fields, including planning, design, and business, along with developers, participated in the 10K. A total of 75 teams and over 250 people participated, marking an increase of more than 50% compared to last year.
