On the 26th, the personal mobility sharing service GCOO announced that it has started a pilot service called ‘Tag Ride’ in Busan, allowing users to utilize GCOO bicycles with their transportation cards and receive transfer discounts.

This service was achieved through cooperation with Hwik Co., Ltd., which manufactures Tag Ride terminals and payment systems, and EZL Co., Ltd., which provides transportation card payment services.

Tag Ride is a service that enables transfers from public transportation to GCOO bicycles using only a transportation card tag, similar to the existing transfer methods for buses and subways. Citizens of Busan and visitors can register their transportation cards on the GCOO app, disembark from a bus or subway, and tag their transportation card at the GCOO bicycle terminal within 30 minutes to receive a transfer discount of 500 won.

With the introduction of this pilot service, GCOO aims to enhance the consolidation of ‘last-mile’ transportation to destinations not reached by existing public transport. GCOO plans to initially operate about 2,000 Tag Ride-supported bicycles in the Busan area and later expand to other regions based on user feedback.

Yoon Jong-soo, the CEO of GBike, which operates GCOO, said, “Although shared scooters and bicycles have established themselves as new modes of transportation, direct transfer infrastructure with other transportation modes needs enhancement.” He noted, “Through this Tag Ride pilot project, we will bridge these gaps and continue to strengthen connections with public transportation in the future.”
