Samsung Electronics announced on the 26th that it will apply its Samsung Wallet 'Digital Key' to key models of Mercedes-Benz.
The Digital Key will be applied to 17 vehicle models, including Maybach, AMG, E-Class W214, and C-Class W206, and can be used on Galaxy S21 or higher ultra and plus models, Galaxy Z Fold 3 or higher models, S25 Edge, and Z Fold SE models.
With this feature, users can unlock their vehicles without a physical key and start the engine remotely from outside the vehicle. Additionally, through the 'key sharing' feature, users can easily share the digital key with acquaintances via message, as well as set and revoke key usage periods and access permissions.
In case of a lost smartphone, users can remotely lock or reset their smartphones using the Samsung Find app. The Digital Key incorporates encrypted security technology based on Samsung Knox and ultra-wideband (UWB), enhancing security through biometric recognition and PIN authentication.
Vehicle users can register the Samsung Wallet Digital Key through the Mercedes Me app.
Chae Won-cheol, Head of Team at Samsung Electronics, noted, 'Through this collaboration, we have been able to provide a safe and convenient experience along with the expansion of the Galaxy ecosystem.' Stephan Bröse, Director of Mercedes-Benz, stated, 'The Digital Key will provide customers with better accessibility and vehicle consolidation.'
Samsung Electronics has supported the Digital Key in collaboration with various brands such as BMW and Audi, starting from Hyundai Motor Group in 2021.
