Samsung Electronics is sponsoring to nurture future scientific talent.

Samsung Electronics announced on the afternoon of the 26th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to sponsor the Korean representative team for the International Mathematics and Physics Olympiads in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOSAC) and the Korean Mathematical Society and the Korean Physical Society at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Gangnam, Seoul.

The International Mathematics and Physics Olympiads are international competitions where high school students from around the world gather to solve challenging problems and compete in their skills.

The Korean representative team has participated in the International Mathematics Olympiad since 1988 and the International Physics Olympiad since 1992, achieving excellent results every year.

Samsung Electronics explained that it decided to sponsor the Olympiads to enhance public awareness of the importance of basic science and contribute to the cultivation of future scientific talent.

It plans to support the selection, education, and competition participation of the Korean Olympiad team and also plans to provide separate scholarships to the competition winners.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jo Si-jung, head of the people team at Samsung Electronics' DX division (vice president), Choi Wan-woo, head of the people team at the DS division (vice president), Jeong Woo-sung, chairman of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOSAC), Kwak Si-jong, president of the Korean Mathematical Society, and Yoon Jin-hee, president of the Korean Physical Society.

Samsung Electronics noted, "We will continue our efforts to strengthen the capabilities of Korea's science and engineering talents and advance science and technology in the future."
