SK Telecom announced on the 23rd that about 10,000 people replaced their SIM cards on the 21st and 22nd through a new reservation system that allows customers to specify the store, date, and time of their visit.
A representative from SK Telecom noted, "We secured sufficient servers and applied traffic distribution solutions to ensure stable system operation," adding, "We will continuously upgrade the reservation system based on customer requests and SIM card replacement status."
In addition, SK Telecom will expand its 'mobile service' that directly visits customers to support SIM card replacements, targeting the elderly and disabled starting today.
SK Telecom also reported that support personnel visiting 286 remote areas across the country completed the replacement of about 40,000 SIM cards as of the previous day.
Meanwhile, SK Telecom is expected to start receiving new subscribers again from the 24th. The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the same day, "We will lift the ban on new business operations imposed on SK Telecom through administrative guidance starting on the 24th."
