LG Uplus and its labor union reached a tentative agreement on a wage and collective bargaining (imdanhyeob) increase of 1.3% in basic pay and a fixed increase of 190,000 won this year. A vote by union members will be held this week.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 23rd, LG Uplus and its first labor union, the LG Uplus Union, and the second union, the Democratic Uplus Branch, reached a tentative agreement after nine rounds of negotiations on the 17th.
Both sides appear to have tentatively agreed to an increase of 1.3% plus a fixed increase of 190,000 won (reflecting evaluation grades). Additionally, they have decided to abolish the 'supervisor' title system that was being applied to the field sales and operational technology positions.
Initially, the company proposed an increase of 0.5% with a total increase plan of 3% including evaluation grades, but the LG Uplus Union has demanded a total of about 8% reflecting an increase of 2% in the evaluation grades.
The union plans to hold emergency general meetings on the 24th and 25th to conduct a vote on the tentative agreement on wage and collective bargaining.
