Nexon announced on the 20th that its free block coding platform 'HelloMaple' has entered into a business agreement with Haeundae District, Busan, to foster digital talent among youth.
Through this agreement, Nexon will support game production classes themed 'Haeundae of the Future in 2050' utilizing 'HelloMaple.' Students will have the opportunity to create maps imagining Haeundae and share their creations with peers, allowing them to plan their own games. Currently, a total of 527 students are participating in the 8-session course 'Creating My Own Game Through Block Coding' across 14 middle schools in Haeundae District.
In addition, current developers from Nexon will participate in mentoring sessions to share practical know-how and career experiences through lectures. Nexon and Haeundae District will pursue the joint development of course curricula and educational content under a cooperative system, and plan to provide snacks and school supplies to participating students for smooth educational operations.
Shin Min-seok, the overall director at Nexon, noted, 'HelloMaple is a platform where anyone can easily and enjoyable learn the principles of programming,' adding, 'Through this collaboration, we will actively support Haeundae youth in gaining digital creation experience and growing into talents for the future gaming industry.'
Kim Seong-soo, the mayor of Haeundae District, stated, 'I am pleased that youth will take a meaningful first step with Nexon, allowing them to unleash their imagination using digital technology.' He added, 'I hope this will be an opportunity for the youth of Haeundae District to become converged talents equipped with creativity and technology.'
