The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 19th that the National Radio Research Agency (RRA), Korea Information & Communication (TTA), and the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA) have concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster international standardization personnel in the institutional sector of radio. The Ministry of Science and ICT emphasized that "a strong alliance has been established for the future of radio standardization."
The three institutions signed the memorandum of understanding at the summer academic conference of the Korean Society of Telecommunications Studies, agreeing to train experts who will play a leading role in international standardization organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Radio Communication Sector (ITU-R). Specifically, they plan to operate a practical consultative body to foster standardization experts, expand the leadership of international standardization organizations, and jointly develop specialized training programs as concrete cooperation measures.
The Ministry of Science and ICT noted that this cooperation aims to establish a virtuous cycle structure of "planning-support-expansion" in the training process for international standardization experts in the radio sector and said, "We plan to establish and vigorously implement specific plans to achieve the goal of expanding the leadership of the radio sector standardization organization by 35 members (RF 35-Leaders) by 2028 as part of the Fourth Basic Plan for Radio Promotion."
