Seung-joo Jung, co-founder and chairman of the board of the digital healthcare corporation Noom, is joining Naver Webtoon’s global business.

According to Naver Webtoon on the 19th, its U.S. parent corporation Webtoon Entertainment recently expanded its board from 7 to 8 members and appointed Seung-joo Jung as an outside director. Noom is a platform that manages diet and weight loss. Established in New York in 2005, it has grown into a unicorn corporation (a private company valued at over $1 billion).

The newly appointed outside director will serve as a Commissioner of Webtoon Entertainment's audit committee from the 16th of this month until the shareholders' meeting in 2027.

Naver Webtoon noted that "Director Jung is a leader with deep insights and execution capabilities in the global consumer technology services sector," adding that the appointment was made to enhance Naver Webtoon’s global expansion and brand strategy.

In recent years, Webtoon Entertainment has continuously recruited Korean professionals from American startups. In 2023, it hired David Lee, formerly of the American food tech startup Impossible Foods, as chief operating officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO), and appointed Yong-soo Kim, who served as COO of the autonomous truck startup Mars Auto, as chief strategy officer (CSO).
