Supercell announced on the 18th that its multiplayer party action game "Squad Busters" will conduct a special collaboration with SEGA's representative intellectual property (IP) "Sonic the Hedgehog" series.
This collaboration is a large-scale event featuring iconic characters from the SEGA franchise, including "Sonic," "Tails," and "Knuckles," and will run until July 8. During the collaboration period, players will encounter the familiar "Green Hill" area and the villain "Dr. Eggman" riding the Death Egg robot, while item boxes from the Sonic platform game and "Badnik" robots like "Crabmeat" and "Viton" will also appear as enemies on the battlefield, evoking nostalgia.
In this collaboration, Sonic's unique speed and the game's excitement blend perfectly, adding a new dimension to combat strategies with each character's special abilities. Sonic will use the "Super Sonic" power move, becoming invincible for a limited time and boosting the entire squad's movement and attack speed, while Tails will guide a cyclone and set up a powerful laser cannon to lead long-range combat.
Jonathan Lowland, the head of Squad Busters, noted, "We have a development team with diverse backgrounds, but we all share memories of exploring Sonic's 'Green Hill' during our childhood," adding, "I am very happy that we can bring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles into the world of Squad Busters that we created."
Takahashi Iizuka, the creative director for Sonic, said, "As a longtime fan of Supercell's games, I am thrilled that this collaboration is happening, and I look forward to seeing the synergies between characters with different personalities in battle," and expressed hope that fans around the world will enjoy this exciting collaboration.
