Park Heonsu, Head of Team at Samsung Electronics' Mobile Experience (MX) business division, stated in an interview with Bloomberg that they plan to develop a hub that allows smartwatch users to directly share health information with their doctors.
Bloomberg reported on the 16th (local time) that through an interview with Head of Team Park, Samsung Electronics is creating a tool that sends users' health information collected via smartwatches to a central hub and encourages users to achieve health goals set by their doctors.
Head of Team Park noted, “There are many innovations, but each is isolated,” adding, “There is both a responsibility and potential to allow users to have a simplified experience instead of using 10 different apps for health management.”
Head of Team Park observed that there is a trend of enhancing health-related functions on smartwatches due to the increase in chronic diseases, workforce shortages, and rising medical expenses. Samsung Electronics unveiled the new operating system 'One UI 8 Watch,' which will be loaded onto the Galaxy Watch set to be released in the second half of the year. This update includes sleep pattern analysis, sleep coaching, sleep environment optimization, and sleep apnea detection features, as well as a new feature that suggests the optimal bedtime based on the user's lifestyle and sleep data. Users of the Galaxy Watch5 and above living in Korea and the United States can experience the new features in advance through a beta program starting this month.
