On the 17th, LG CNS announced that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the American artificial intelligence (AI) robotics company Skild AI and is aiming to target the industrial AI humanoid robot market.
This collaboration also includes investments through LG Technology Ventures, and LG CNS plans to develop AI humanoid robot solutions specialized for industrial sites such as manufacturing and logistics based on Skild AI's Robot Foundation Model. The Robot Foundation Model helps robots to act autonomously and interact with their surroundings by learning from data, including images, text, speech, and video.
LG CNS plans to utilize this technology to provide solutions that allow existing robots to perform high-intensity, repetitive tasks, or work in hazardous environments. This can be applied to various tasks such as monitoring factory equipment, assembly, handling hazardous materials, and sorting and loading items in logistics centers, and can also be used in urban environments for services such as elderly care and patrolling.
Additionally, LG CNS intends to offer integrated AI humanoid robot services to customers across various fields, including smart factories, smart logistics, and smart cities. The service will consist of Skild AI's Robot Foundation Model, LG CNS's robot control and operation platform, smart factory and logistics solutions, and robot hardware through partners.
Lee Jun-ho, head of LG CNS's Smart Logistics & City Division, noted, "We will support our customers in intelligentizing their operations with AI humanoid robots and achieving business results," and added, "Through our cooperation with Skild AI, we will strengthen our capabilities in intelligent AI robot service technology."
