KT announced on the 12th that it will begin expanding its global subscription services through a partnership with the British global subscription bundling platform corporation 'Bango.'
Bango provides a 'digital vending machine' system linked with over 100 global subscription services to telecommunications operators. Major clients include Verizon in the United States and Optus in Australia. Through this partnership, KT plans to launch Germany's artificial intelligence (AI) translation service 'DeepL' as its first content in the second half of this year.
KT noted that the partnership with Bango aims to provide diverse global content experiences to domestic customers and support the overseas expansion of the partnered content corporations, stating, 'We will help domestic customers easily access overseas subscription content that was difficult to utilize due to English-based websites or limitations on overseas payment methods.'
Domestic content corporations that partner with KT can also leverage Bango's global distribution network. KT plans to upload Masspresso's AI learning platform 'Kwanda,' released as part of the KT subscription service in February, to Bango.
Paul Lavi, CEO of Bango, said, 'The partnership with KT is an important opportunity to expand Bango's subscription ecosystem in the Asian market,' adding, 'We will work together to ensure that the innovative subscription model combining the technologies and content of both companies can establish itself as a global standard.'
Kim Young-gul, head of KT's Service Product Division (executive director), stated, 'Through this collaboration, we have established a foundation to offer even more diverse global content to domestic customers,' and emphasized, 'We will do our best to provide timely content that matches customer subscription trends through close collaboration with Bango.'
