In the first quarter of this year, it was found that more than half of the OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TVs sold in North America were products from LG Electronics.

According to market research firm Statista on the 11th, LG Electronics maintained a 51% market share by sales volume in the North American OLED TV market for the first quarter. This means that one out of every two OLED TVs sold to consumers through retailers is an LG OLED TV.

The reasons LG OLED TVs are gaining popularity in the North American market include outstanding picture quality, differentiated artificial intelligence (AI) features, wireless audio and video (AV) transmission solutions, and a leading lineup with sizes such as 97, 83, 77, 65, 55, 48, and 42 inches.

LG OLED TVs received top ratings in all size categories, including above 70 inches, 65 inches, 55-60 inches, 46-52 inches, and 39-43 inches, in evaluations conducted by the influential U.S. consumer publication Consumer Reports.

The U.S. IT media Mashable also recently selected LG Electronics as the 'best OLED TV brand' in its evaluation of 'the best TV brands tested by experts,' praising the LG OLED Evo (model name G5) as 'by far the most impressive OLED TV seen to date.'

Meanwhile, based on sell-in, which refers to the amount shipped from manufacturers to distribution channels, LG Electronics has recorded the number one spot in the North American OLED TV market for 12 consecutive years until last year.

However, in the first quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics saw its share by shipment increase to 45.2%, surpassing LG Electronics by about 3 percentage points (P). Industry experts believe that this indicates that Samsung has temporarily bolstered inventory in response to tariff issues, considering discrepancies with sell-out data.

LG Electronics explained that excluding the temporary situation in North America for this first quarter, it is on track to maintain a global OLED TV market share of about 52%, aiming for the top position in the world for the 13th consecutive year.
