Jensen Huang, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Nvidia, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) chips, evaluated AI as "a great equalizer", stating that program development has become possible without professional knowledge thanks to AI.
According to CNBC on the 9th (local time), CEO Huang attended the London Tech Week event in London, England, that day and noted, "To develop a program, you had to learn a programming language" and added, "Now suddenly, a new programming language called 'human' has emerged." He said that very few people know how to use programming languages like C++ and Python, but everyone knows about humans.
He added, "To ask the computer to do something, such as writing a program, generating images, or composing poetry, you just need to ask well," and mentioned that it is surprising how programming AI is similar to training a person.
ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, opened the era of AI chatbots worldwide after being launched at the end of 2022, and big tech companies like Google Gemini and Microsoft (MS) Copilot have followed suit with conversational AI. The weekly active users (WAU) of ChatGPT reached 400 million in February.
CEO Huang stated, "Almost anyone can interact with computers in this way" and added, "Children are already doing it naturally, and this will bring about change."
On that day, he took the stage alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and praised the UK's AI industry, saying, "The UK is in an (ideal) Goldilocks environment." CEO Huang mentioned that the UK has one of the richest AI communities on Earth, which the world envies, and stated that he would increase investment in the UK.
However, he pointed out that the absence of what is known as "sovereign AI", which utilizes domestic data and infrastructure to independently build and operate AI systems, is a downside. The UK government announced plans for the development of the AI industry, including regulatory easing, last January, and stated that it would additionally spend £1 billion (about 1.8 trillion won) to enhance AI computing power.
Following the UK, CEO Huang plans to visit France and meet with leaders from Germany and Belgium.
