LG Uplus announced on the 9th that it has expanded the devices that can use its artificial intelligence (AI) currency agent service 'ixi-O' to models starting from the Galaxy S21 series.
'ixi-O' could previously be used on devices since the Apple iPhone 12 series, but it was only available to customers who purchased and activated the Galaxy S25 series from LG Uplus for Samsung smartphones. With this update, customers of flagship devices released after the Galaxy S21 series and practical Galaxy series can now use 'ixi-O.'
The devices that can now use 'ixi-O' through this update include the Galaxy S series (S24, S23, S22, S21) and the Galaxy Z series (Fold·Flip6, Fold·Flip5, Fold4, Fold3), as well as ▲ Galaxy A36 ▲ Galaxy A35 ▲ Galaxy A25 5G ▲ Galaxy A23 ▲ Galaxy Buddy4 ▲ Galaxy Buddy2, among others.
Launched in November last year for iPhone users, 'ixi-O' offers features such as ▲ real-time voice phishing detection ▲ visible calls ▲ answering instead of calls ▲ currency recording and summarization in an on-device environment (a technology where AI functions are performed purely on the device without server connectivity). The Android version was pre-installed on the Galaxy S25 series last March.
Customers holding devices eligible for the 'ixi-O' update among LG Uplus subscribers can download 'ixi-O' from the App Store to use it. Customers who purchase self-sufficient devices and sign up for LG Uplus plans to use communication services, as well as those who move their numbers to LG Uplus, can also use 'ixi-O.'
LG Uplus noted, "As the number of customers using 'ixi-O' increases through this update, the damage caused by recent social issues such as 'voice phishing' will also be reduced." The core function of 'real-time voice phishing detection' is an on-device AI that understands the context of conversations in real time during calls and sends pop-up messages and alerts when it detects conversations that are suspected of voice phishing, a feature that LG Uplus developed as the first in the world.
The company plans to add the 'Anti Deep Voice' feature to 'ixi-O' as early as this month, which will detect fake voices generated by AI. Anti Deep Voice is a feature that allows AI to identify the characteristics of voices produced by deepfake technology and notify customers. LG Uplus aims to expand collaboration with global companies like Google so that 'ixi-O' can leap from being a currency agent to providing various 'Actionable AI' services. Customers who subscribe to 'ixi-O' by the end of August will receive a three-month access pass to Google AI Pro, which includes various AI features, including Google's AI model Gemini.
Choi Yoon-ho, head of the LG Uplus AI Agent Promotion Team (Managing Director), said, "We expanded the eligible devices to Android-based smartphones so that more customers can use the convenient features of 'ixi-O' and the voice phishing detection feature," and added, "Through 'ixi-O,' we will continually improve functionalities so that customers can enjoy communication services with ease and safety, thereby innovating the customer experience."
