Samsung Electronics has seen increased usage of the artificial intelligence (AI)-based image editing features offered on Galaxy devices.

Samsung Electronics noted on the 5th that the 'Photo Assist' feature has gained popularity among those in their teens to 30s, with its usage doubling compared to the same period last year over the past three months. Photo Assist is an image editing tool utilizing Galaxy AI, which has been included starting with the Galaxy S24 series. It offers features such as ▲ 'Generative editing,' where AI fills in spaces when a specific subject in a photo is removed, and ▲ 'Portrait Studio,' which can transform portrait photos into 3D characters or various styles like watercolor.

A company representative said, "This increase in usage is the result of young people, particularly those in their teens to 30s, who are actively recording their daily lives through photographs and producing social media (SNS) content," adding, "The function of removing objects from images and filling in space through generative editing has received praise online and on various YouTube channels for its natural results."

Galaxy AI is a 'On-Device AI' technology first introduced by Samsung Electronics last year through the Galaxy S24 series, allowing AI functions to operate without server consolidation. The Galaxy AI showcased with the early this year released Galaxy S25 series has advanced features compared to its predecessor.

A representative from Samsung Electronics stated, "The generative editing function is establishing itself as a culture that goes beyond simply correcting photos to express users' individuality and tastes," and added, "We will continue to introduce unique Galaxy AI features that enhance convenience in daily life."
