OpenAI expressed its understanding and support for President Lee Jae-myung's artificial intelligence (AI) policy and stated its willingness to cooperate.
Jason Kwon, OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), congratulated President Lee on his inauguration through the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on the 4th local time, sharing impressions of the new government's AI vision.
Kwon, the CSO, mentioned his meeting with the president's office during his visit to Korea last week, noting, "I was deeply impressed by the vision toward becoming a global AI leading country and the willingness to ensure that all citizens can benefit from AI." He added, "OpenAI will also join this journey and actively support it."
President Lee proposed the 'Everyone's AI' project, which aims to invest 100 trillion won in AI as a presidential campaign promise to advance Korea into one of the world's three leading AI nations and ensure that all citizens can access basic AI services regardless of their income.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is currently hiring for six positions at its newly established corporation in Korea, which will operate from its Seoul branch.
