On the 4th, it was reported that Chairperson Ryu Hee-rim's resignation letter, expressed in April, has been approved 40 days later.
Former Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joo-ho approved Chairperson Ryu's resignation letter the day before, and on the morning of the following day, the Ministry of Personnel Management sent a document regarding the removal appointment of Chairperson Ryu to the Korea Communications Commission. The Korea Communications Commission then forwarded the document to the Broadcast Communications Review Committee.
Chairperson Ryu, who took office in September 2023, has faced criticism for leading severe penalties against reports critical of the previous government.
Additionally, Ryu is under suspicion for allegedly encouraging family and acquaintances to file complaints requesting the review of reports citing the 'Kim Man-bae-Shin Hak-rim false interview' by News Tapa. The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has referred the case to the Board of Audit and Inspection.
Chairperson Ryu announced his intention to resign on April 25, citing health reasons.
