Kakao Mobility announced on the 1st that it will export its parking platform solution overseas for the first time since its establishment.
Kakao Mobility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to supply integrated mobility solutions for the ‘Diriyah Project’, a large-scale urban development initiative being promoted by the Saudi Arabian government.
The agreement includes plans to conduct a proof of concept (PoC) project in the Diriyah area, where parking infrastructure for approximately 60,000 vehicles is planned on a site of 14 km², and to expand application to the entire area based on the results.
Kakao Mobility plans to build and operate a digital parking platform based on various technologies, including mobile network-based indoor positioning technology 'FIN' and a unified control system for multiple parking lots 'UPC.'
The two sides will verify elements such as user experience, operational workflow, and smart parking infrastructure through the proof of concept, and will discuss joint development of mobility services based on demand in Diriyah.
Through this agreement, Kakao Mobility has created an opportunity to demonstrate its technological prowess and operational capabilities in the global market, including the Middle East, according to the company.
Ryu Geung-sun, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, “It is significant to participate in the Diriyah Project,” and added, “We will strive to prove the excellence of Kakao Mobility solutions overseas.”
