Samsung Electronics maintained its top position in the Latin American smartphone market despite a downturn.

According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, in the first quarter of 2025, Samsung Electronics recorded a 33% market share in terms of shipments in the Latin American market, maintaining its lead. It was followed by Motorola (19%), Xiaomi (17%), and Apple (8%).

The overall shipments decreased by 4% compared to the previous year, primarily due to economic deterioration in some countries, including Mexico and Brazil. However, Samsung Electronics managed to increase its shipments by nearly 3% during the same period.

Apple's shipments increased by 26%, moving it up to the fourth-largest market share, with the relatively inexpensive iPhone 16e gaining popularity in Mexico and other regions. In contrast, Motorola's shipments decreased by 15% as it delayed the launch of new products due to rising inventory.

Counterpoint noted that "Samsung Electronics is maintaining its lead not only in key countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico but also across the Asia-Pacific region, solidifying its position in the high-end market through the Galaxy A14 and A15 4G and 5G models."
