The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 30th that it has notified three companies—LG HelloVision, SK Broadband, and KT HCN—and 54 cable operators of their re-licensing.
The Ministry of Science and ICT formed a re-licensing review committee with eight private experts, explaining that all 54 cable operators exceeded the re-licensing standard of 400 points out of a possible 600 points following last month's review.
The review committee suggested that it is necessary to impose conditions for re-licensing, such as operating the viewer committee at least once a quarter, diversifying notification methods for channel changes considering the elderly, improving access methods for call centers, ensuring compliance with guidelines related to content supply contracts, and implementing regional channel investment plans.
The Ministry of Science and ICT set the re-licensing period for these operators at seven years and added that it has imposed the conditions suggested by the review committee.
