Apple announced on the 28th (local time) that it will expand its 'Self Service Repair' program to include the iPad, following the iPhone and Mac series. This program supports users in repairing their devices using genuine Apple parts, tools, and repair instructions.
The Self Service Repair program was first introduced for the iPhone in early 2022 and was applied to the Mac series starting with the MacBook in August of the same year. When users order necessary parts or tools, Apple provides them for sale or in a lending form.
The expanded targets include the iPad Air (M2 chip or higher), iPad Pro (M4), iPad Mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16), allowing users to order major components and repair kits, including the display, battery, camera, and external charging port.
Brian Nauman, vice president of AppleCare, noted, 'Apple’s goal is to create the best products that can last as long as possible,' and expressed, 'We are pleased to expand our repair services so more customers can extend their product lifespan without compromising safety, security, and privacy.'
Currently, the Self Service Repair program supports a total of 65 products, including the newly released iPhone 16e, with Canada becoming the 34th country to offer the service. This program is available in a total of 33 countries, including Korea and the United States.
