LG Electronics' North American Innovation Center (LG NOVA) announced on the 28th that it is spinning out the U.S. cleantech startup "Pado AI Orchestration (Pado)" which develops artificial intelligence (AI)-based energy management solutions as an independent corporation.
Pado started within the new business incubation organization at LG NOVA and recently spun out as an independent corporation. This is the second spinoff case that LG NOVA has produced following the healthcare startup "Prime Focus Health" last May.
Pado's solution utilizes AI and machine learning (ML) technologies to analyze energy demand and supply in real time while predicting power load and expenses. This increases the stability and efficiency of energy operations in corporations and can also be used to build services such as distributed power grids and smart grids in terms of energy infrastructure.
Recently, Pado has collaborated with the global energy tech company "MARA" to develop next-generation data center energy optimization solutions. The two companies aim to develop an AI-based solution that optimizes energy supply and load management in response to real-time fluctuating power demands for hyperscale data centers with over 100,000 servers.
Data centers, which require stable power supply 24 hours a day, experience imbalanced power consumption by time zone. By utilizing this solution, they can use stored energy during peak load times through energy storage systems or distribute power usage to mitigate the instability of external power grids.
Lee Seok-woo, Vice President of LG Electronics' North American Innovation Center, noted, "As the energy industry reaches a technology-driven turning point, LG NOVA will continue to discover and nurture innovative new businesses of our own to lead this change."
