On the 24th (local time), Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced a service outage.
According to the internet monitoring site Downdetector, a large number of service outage reports were received around 10 a.m. Eastern Time on this day. At one point, the number of outage reports reached as high as 25,000. The outage is estimated to have lasted about 3 hours, with most issues resolved.
The X service outage occurred again just two days after it happened on the 22nd. On the 22nd, reports of outages regarding some functions were received from the afternoon and lasted almost a full day.
While connectivity was not completely down, some logins could not be made, and messages failed to load.
U.S. media speculated that this outage is related to a fire that occurred on the 21st at X's leased data center near Portland, Oregon.
X did not mention the specific cause of the accessibility issues.
