Pat Gelsinger, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Intel, announced plans to create a "new Intel," stating, "I will rebuild Intel as a global technology corporation."
According to local media such as the Taipei Times and Intel, during the "Intel Taiwan 40th Anniversary" event held at the Le Meridien Taipei Hotel on the 19th, Gelsinger said, "The key keyword for Intel's recovery is execution," adding, "We will reorganize Intel's culture in two main directions: developing the best products and achieving customer satisfaction." The event, which marked Intel's 40 years in Taiwan, was attended by over 185 representatives from major partners in Taiwan, including Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), ASUS, and Acer.
On that day, Gelsinger emphasized the need to replenish talent lost in recent years and expand the engineering team to create proper central processing units (CPUs) and products. He mentioned that in terms of customer satisfaction, "I prioritize spending time with customers after joining Intel," recalling his experience visiting 1,500 customer companies within a month while working at Cadence. He stated, "We will adopt a similar approach at Intel."
He continued, "Most major customers want Intel to become strong again, and that expectation has motivated me," adding, "Although we are experiencing some issues, Intel maintains a 55% market share in the PC chip market and an 85% market share in the data center chip market, still holding a solid foundation. Based on this, we can grow again."
Gelsinger also expressed a commitment to focusing on partnerships with Taiwanese OEMs and foundries, such as Foxconn and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). He noted, "Taiwan has played a very important role in Intel's past and future success over the past 40 years," and added, "I want to renew our partnership with the Taiwanese ecosystem."
