Meta appointed Jo Yong-beom as the Asia Pacific regional head (vice president) on the 15th.
The new head, Jo, is a veteran who has worked at Meta for 14 years, having played key roles for over 12 years in the Asia Pacific leadership team. He began his career in the growth team at Meta's U.S. headquarters, and from 2014 to 2018, he served as the head of Meta Korea. Afterward, he worked as the regional vice president for Southeast Asia, leading Meta's business growth in the Korean and Southeast Asian markets.
Jo will officially start his duties in July, and he plans to complete the organizational transition through a smooth handover with the outgoing vice president, Dan Neary. He will join the leadership team of Nicola Mendelson, head of global business at Meta.
Mendelson noted, "Jo Yong-beom, the new head, has shown strong leadership based on a deep understanding of Meta and the Asia Pacific region. His achievements in Korea and Southeast Asia prove his leadership in driving business growth and enhancing team capabilities in the region."
Jo said, "I am very honored and grateful to be able to create the future of the potential-rich Asia Pacific region together," adding, "I hope to leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) with outstanding teams to drive growth, collaboration, and positive impact on businesses in the region."
Meanwhile, following Jo's appointment, Sandhya Devanathan, vice president of Meta India, has been promoted to oversee the Southeast Asia region.
