Kakao's Content CIC announced on the 14th that the portal Daum has updated candidate information and voter participation features on its special page for the 21st presidential election.
Daum opened the special page on the 30th of last month ahead of the presidential election scheduled for June 3. It supports various election information and news through tabs for ▲Home ▲News ▲Opinion polls ▲Media features ▲Debate.
This update introduced new tabs for ▲Candidates and ▲Participation. Under the Candidates tab, users can explore individual tabs for each candidate, which include speeches, videos, collections of photos, and news on promises and policies by area.
In the Participation tab, voters can leave a wish message of up to 10 characters with the theme 'the Korea I envision.' Beginning with the early voting date on the 29th, users can also register voting selfies.
The special page will be updated until election day. It will include updates on early voting locations and polling place information, and on election day, it will provide real-time information such as counting rates, vote percentages, and the status of key districts.
Additionally, plans are in place to increase accessibility to election information by setting up PC banners and a mobile top tab.
Daum Search and KakaoMap will also provide various election information. Searching for election-related keywords on Daum will allow users to see election information, candidate details, and promises. KakaoMap will let users locate early voting sites and polling places on election day.
Daum has also stated that it will strengthen its response to false information and unfair election reporting.
Daum previously noted that through the 'Principles for Operating Election Services' disclosed at the end of April, it aims to provide fair and comprehensive election information, and will respond to incorrect information or articles through a customer service center operating 24 hours a day and monitoring.
Also, Daum announced that it is operating a reporting process for false information, defamation, deepfakes, and other posts in collaboration with the National Election Commission.
