WEBZEN announced on the 13th that it recorded an operating profit of 8.9 billion won for its consolidated results in the first quarter of 2025.
In the first quarter, sales (operating revenue) were 41.5 billion won, and net income was 1.2 billion won, a decrease of 32.4% and 93.9%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, they decreased by 25.9%, 41.2%, and 89.5%. The decline in performance reflects one-time legal costs due to litigation and delays in new game releases.
WEBZEN aims for a rebound in performance by launching new titles, including the open-world action RPG "Dragon Sword" and the collectible RPG "Tervos" in the second half of the year. Dragon Sword is currently undergoing closed beta testing based on combo action combat, and Tervos is generating expectations domestically and internationally with its 2D Japanese animation style.
Additionally, information on MMORPGs based on Unreal Engine 5 and various new games is expected to be released sequentially starting this year. Strategic and financial investments in indie game developers and emerging studios in the subculture genre are also being conducted.
Gen. Kim Tae-young, CEO of WEBZEN, noted, "Investments in trendy game development and securing new IPs are leading to visible results," adding, "We will continue to provide new game services and secure top talent."
