LG Uplus will launch a counseling service that citizens can use in emergency situations while staying abroad.

LG Uplus announced on the 11th that it will conduct a promotional campaign for the ‘Overseas Citizens' 119 Emergency Medical Counseling Service’ in collaboration with the National Fire Agency. Since 2018, the National Fire Agency has provided a service for citizens who contract unexpected illnesses or get injured abroad to consult with resident emergency medicine specialists or situation personnel. Information on first aid, purchasing and taking medication, and using local medical institutions is also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As of December last year, the cumulative consultations for the Overseas Citizens' 119 Emergency Medical Counseling Service reached 18,040. The number of consultations last year was 4,901, with an average of 13.4 overseas citizens using the service daily.

In May, coinciding with Family Month and the summer vacation season, LG Uplus will carry out a promotional campaign for the Overseas Citizens' 119 Emergency Medical Counseling Service in response to the increase in travel demand abroad. LG Uplus will provide promotional brochures for the overseas citizens' service at the LG Uplus roaming centers set up in Incheon, Gimpo, and Gimhae airports. It will also respond to customer inquiries related to the service. While supporting the installation of promotional signs (banners) from the National Fire Agency, LG Uplus will also provide service information through electronic billboards.

Im Hyekyung, Head of Tariffs and Affiliate Products at LG Uplus, said, “Through this campaign, we hope more customers recognize that they can receive prompt and professional assistance in emergency situations while abroad,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen our cooperation with the National Fire Agency to support the safety activities of public safety personnel.”

Yu Byeongwook, head of the 119 Emergency Rescue Department of the National Fire Agency, stated, “As the number of overseas travelers continues to increase, it has become essential to enhance policies for overseas citizens and promote tailored information in line with the public’s expectations,” expressing hope that this campaign will serve as a proactive opportunity to further enhance citizens' perception of governmental policies.
