Google will incorporate features in its Chrome browser to prevent online fraud using artificial intelligence (AI).

According to the IT industry on the 11th, Google recently announced through its blog that it has enhanced online fraud prevention features in Chrome. The ‘Gemini NANO’, a model of ‘on-device AI’ that operates on desktops (PCs) without server consolidation, was utilized for the security enhancement.

Google provides a feature that displays warning messages to users when fraudulent alerts are detected in Chrome using Gemini NANO. It operates by having AI pre-judge notifications from suspicious sites and automatically guide users to block or unsubscribe from them. The company plans to launch a new AI-based alert feature that can recognize spam notifications on Android mobile Chrome as well. The new feature will be provided first in English-speaking countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Announcing this update, Google said, “Chrome’s enhanced safe browsing mode provides security that is twice as strong as the existing standard protection mode.” It noted that Gemini NANO is an AI model running on desktops, making it also secure in terms of privacy protection. It analyzes user data within the device rather than on external servers to provide stronger security features.
