Samsung Electronics announced on the 11th that it will launch the world's first 500 hertz (Hz) ultra-high refresh rate organic light-emitting diode (OLED) gaming monitor, the 'Odyssey OLED G6'. The refresh rate refers to the number of images that a monitor can display in one second.
This product also supports a maximum response time of 0.03 milliseconds based on gray-to-gray (GTG). GTG is one of the standards for measuring response time, indicating the time it takes to switch back to gray. The company noted, "It supports smooth and immersive gaming even in high-performance gaming environments."
The 'Odyssey OLED G6' (G60SF) features a 27-inch size equipped with a QD-OLED panel. The maximum brightness is 1000 nits. It also supports HDR10+ gaming. With Glare Free technology applied, it reduces light reflection to produce a clear screen. The 'OLED Safeguard+' technology has also been implemented to prevent burn-in.
It also supports 'AMD FreeSync Premium Pro' and 'NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible'. These features reduce screen tearing during high-spec gaming. Furthermore, it has received 'PANTONE Validated' and 'PANTONE SkinTon Validated' for precise color reproduction.
Additionally, it offers features such as ▲HAS (height adjustment) ▲Tilt (vertical angle adjustment) ▲Pivot (horizontal/vertical switching) ▲Swivel (horizontal rotation) stand, ▲VESA wall mount, ▲two HDMI 2.1 ports, ▲one Display 1.4 port, and ▲USB hub. The Odyssey OLED G6 will be sequentially launched worldwide starting from the 12th in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Since launching its first OLED monitor in 2022, Samsung Electronics has secured the top position in the global OLED monitor market for two consecutive years, solidifying its leadership in the industry. In the global gaming monitor market, it has maintained the number one position for six consecutive years since achieving its first global number one ranking in 2019.
Jung Hoon, vice president of Samsung Electronics' visual display business, said, "We are proud to be the first in the world to launch an OLED gaming monitor with a 500 Hz ultra-high refresh rate," and added, "We will continue to innovate displays to deliver the best immersive experience to global gamers."
