Blizzard announced that the Stage 2 of the Open Global Esports Stage 2025 Overwatch Champions Series Korea (hereinafter OWCS Korea) will kick off at WDG Studio in Hongdae, Seoul, at 5 p.m. on the 9th.
A total of nine teams will compete in Stage 2 of OWCS Korea. First, Crazy Raccoon, which won the OWCS Hangzhou Champions Clash last month and claimed the title of the world's strongest team for Stage 1 of the 2025 season, will participate. Team Falcons, which secured the championship in OWCS Asia Stage 1 but unfortunately lost to Crazy Raccoon in the Champions Clash, finishing second, will showcase a strengthened lineup with the addition of Someone Ham Jeong-wan and Merit Choi Tae-min.
The four teams that joined through the intense qualifiers and promotion matches are Poker Face, VEC Seongnam, Onside Gaming, and Old Ocean. Among them, Old Ocean is notable as it is the team of Overwatch esports legend Ryu Je-hong, aiming for its first victory in OWCS's regular season that it could not achieve in the 2024 OWCS Korea Stage 2 held last year.
The opening match of Stage 2 today will feature a showdown between the Stage 1 world champion Crazy Raccoon and Old Ocean, which continues to pursue new challenges. The second match, featuring Team Falcons and T1, is also gaining attention as a clash between two strong teams, while the last third match will showcase an exciting matchup between VEC Seongnam and Zeta Division, who have both returned with new rosters. Following this, all nine teams will compete in a round-robin format, ensuring intriguing matchups each week, with fierce battles anticipated through the seed determination and playoffs.
All matches of OWCS Korea Stage 2 will be broadcast live in Korean on SOOP. Game highlights, clips, and additional content can be found on the Overwatch esports YouTube channel. The Korean commentary team will consist of four casters, Kim Jeong-min, Shim Ji-soo, Ahn Seung-yong, and the newly joined Park Han-eol, along with three analysts, Jang Ji-soo, Hong Hyun-sung, and Moon Chang-sik, who will convey the excitement of the live event.
