HYBE's gaming subsidiary HYBE IM has ended its partnership with Nexus (formerly Action Square) on the action game "Dungeon Stalkers" after about a year.
Nexus announced on the 8th that it is terminating the publishing contract for "Dungeon Stalkers" signed with HYBE IM on February 7 of last year. The reason for the termination was specified as "mutual termination at the request of the counterparty." Nexus also added that it is obligated to return the initial contract payment of 1 billion won out of the total contract amount of 3 billion won to HYBE IM. Nexus stated, "Even after the termination, we plan to directly operate the game in question."
"Dungeon Stalkers" is an extraction genre game where players explore dungeons and escape with valuable items in a third-person perspective, receiving positive evaluations for its unique character design and action. Noticing its potential, HYBE IM signed a publishing contract with Nexus and showcased "Dungeon Stalkers" at last year's largest European game show, Gamescom, actively promoting the game. However, it is reported that Action Square faced management difficulties afterward, hindering game development. The well-known developer Han Dae-hoon, who oversaw production, also transferred to SHIFT UP earlier this year.
A Nexus official stated, "We are preparing for development and services according to the scheduled timeline, and we are reviewing various possibilities, including a blockchain version and global services."
