OpenAI announced on the 8th that it has introduced a feature allowing user data for its corporate services, ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and API platform, to be stored only in South Korea.

This measure reflects the demand from domestic corporations and institutions to retain conversation content, uploaded files, prompts, and other data on servers within South Korea without transferring them abroad. This feature will also be applied in other Asian countries, including Japan, India, and Singapore.

Users of ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu services can designate the storage location to South Korea when creating a workspace, and API users can also save data only within that country through country settings when creating new projects.

OpenAI explained that this feature is built on a security system that includes AES-256 and TLS 1.2 or higher encryption technologies and meets global privacy standards such as GDPR and CCPA. Additionally, the data will not be used for AI model training unless the user explicitly agrees.
