SK Telecom has expressed a reserved position on whether to waive the cancellation penalty for subscribers with remaining contract periods and on whether the discount rate for remaining subscribers will be maintained if some subscribers of bundled discount products withdraw.
According to the response materials submitted by SK Telecom to Representative Kim Jang-gyeom of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on the 8th, SK Telecom responded that there is "no confirmed information yet" regarding the possibility of maintaining the discount rate if some bundled customers terminate their service.
The Consumer Agency sent an official letter to SK Telecom requesting a response by the 2nd for consumer damage relief.
In its response, SK Telecom explained that it will elevate the measures to block abnormal authentication attempts (FDS) to the highest level and that it can fundamentally prevent hacking through its SIM card protection service. Additionally, SK Telecom's board of directors noted that it is currently conducting a legal review regarding whether to waive penalties for terminating subscribers.
