Uber announced on the 8th that it has released the '2025 Lost Item Index,' analyzing passenger lost item data from April 2024 to February 2025.
According to this index, the most commonly lost item by domestic passengers was a mobile phone. This was followed by wallets, bags, earphones/headsets, and glasses. On a day-by-day basis, the most lost items occurred on Saturdays, while Mondays had the least. In terms of time, the most losses occurred around midnight, and it was noted that there were more lost items during the after-work hours compared to weekday commuting times.
Unique lost items that can only be found domestically also caught attention. Various items such as exam papers, live shrimp, ukuleles, braces, hammers, doctor gowns, and wedding invitations were discovered, and reflecting its status as a K-beauty and fashion powerhouse, items like lipsticks, lip balms, hats, and bracelets were also frequently lost. In terms of food, items like chicken, Choco Pie, ginseng sticks, walnut pastries, and alcohol were confirmed.
This index also included global lost item trends. In the United States, lost items included Ghostbusters ghost traps, live lobsters, and the Statue of Liberty's crown. In Hong Kong, egg tarts were lost, while in Italy, magic wands, and in Australia, grey koalas were registered.
Camille Irving, vice president in charge of Uber operations, said, "We understand the importance of retrieving belongings, from essentials to unique items," and noted, "This lost item index aims to widely promote the easy lost item retrieval feature through the Uber app by showcasing various cases."
