As concerns about security have heightened due to the leak of user information from SK Telecom, Kakao recommended strengthening security settings to KakaoTalk users.

Kakao noted in a notice on the 1st that it encourages KakaoTalk users to execute account security diagnostics, set up two-factor authentication, and use country-specific login restrictions.

Kakao said, "It automatically detects and blocks login attempts in abnormal or suspicious environments" and added, "We have established protective measures such as immediately sending notification messages to users and requiring additional authentication procedures."

If you go into 'account security diagnosis' on your KakaoTalk account, you can check for any abnormalities in your account and change settings according to the precautions.

You can also strengthen security by requiring additional authentication when logging into your Kakao account with 'two-factor authentication setup.'

Using 'country-specific login restrictions' to preemptively block login attempts from countries that are not regularly accessed is also a way to enhance security.

Kakao said, "We hope that you will check your security settings to prevent any additional damage related to this incident" and added, "We will continue to do our best for safe service usage."
